ARGHHHH!

When Blogger keeps reformatting your post no matter what you try into one big run-on paragraph. Sorry to anyone subjected to my previous post. I don't know why it's not keeping it the way I type and edit it. I will try and sort it out.

D'Artagnan

D’Artagnan Leslie Stanford was tired of feeling out of place once again. This time it was where Goths and metalheads gathered. She had never really felt in place anywhere at any time in life, much less a trendy club. Putting on a good front most of the time, but the reality was she felt horrid most days, as if she were not part of the human race. Paying for her drink, and tossing back her long hair she headed toward the exit to start her walk home. “Excuse me. Hey, wait. Please don’t go!” said a voice barely audible above the pounding music. Leslie turned around to see a tall, young, long haired man about her age walking a few steps behind her. She was about to hit the exit of the newly opened club, Rage. Not being the type who would normally venture out alone to a loud, crowded heavy metal club, she was a bit startled by the sound of this stranger’s voice. “Are you talking to me?” Looking around, Leslie scanned the area to make sure there was no vampy vixen he was chasing a...

Nimrod, a needed outing

What an amazing day at the Nimrod conference for readers and writers. How lucky am I to get to live where so many diverse authors congregate? Meeting and talking to award winners, beginners, old hats, is nothing less than humbling and inspiring. There was no conflict, or separation of class, race, or any of the other constraints that tend to push us apart in our every day lives. Only human beings discussing, sharing, and honing their craft. A wonderful exchange between minds and souls that left at least one of those human word crafters rejuvenated, inspired, and honored. Two of my favorite moments today come from the very eloquent Robin Coste Lewis. We were having our lunch in the great hall and she came in and sat at our table. I was completely and utterly speechless. I tend to get that way around writers. I especially go dumb around poets. I would have no problem approaching any actor, the president,or anyone else, however writers...yeah...I lose it. There is so...

Consumed and lost.

So I never came back to revisit the dog days of summer. It seems as though everything in my life that could happen or go wrong did, but let's just say that I do believe that dog days were for the most part behind us. Well, that is until this week where we've had heat indexes in the hundreds, but as for everything there is a season...including the seasons. ( closest thing to humor I can manage at the moment) I have had many, sobering, hard, thoughts, as of late. I am not exactly sure where it is all coming from, and I say as of late, but I suppose they have been there for a very , very, very, long time. I have just chosen to stifle them and try and be "that girl". You know, who that girl is right? The one that everyone else thinks you should be. The one that is always someone else's vision of you...but it's not you. Oh there are some sniplets that are you but mostly just hidden by other's perception. Now t...

Dog days of summer

Image
Can you feel it? I know I can feel it. I can feel it all the way to my bones. The dog days of summer was something that I heard growing up and never thought I thing about the saying. I was raised in the country and figured it was just something the older folks said in reference to their dogs and how hot it and they would get. What did I know I was a kid. It is not. Well it's mostly not. For any of you that might not know the dog days of summer refers to ...and I'll give you the explanation as my dictionary has it because as someone once said, someone else has already written about it better than you so if it ain't broke... The sultry part of the summer, supposed to occur during the period that Sirius, the Dog Star, rises at the same time as the sun: now often reck...

My blog hates me.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin I am quite sure it's true that if my blog were a person it would be very miffed at me at the moment. Sadly my other friend life took over and I quite frankly ignored my bestie, bloggie. However as soon as I figure out why I can't get rid of the Kermit green background I shall be back to giving you a peek into what goes on in my mind. I'll go easy. Don't be scared.

2016 already?

Where has the year gone? Can you believe it? I am sitting here deciding what direction to take with certain parts of my life and I am dumbfounded at just how fast everything seems to be flying by. I know I can't be the only one who is under a...where did the time go fog. It is almost frightening to me sometimes at just how quickly the days go by. Time passing as time will do leads me to question if I am living my life to it's full potential. If I were to ask the powers that be that question how would they evaluate me? Honestly I am sure that I would get a loud and unanimous NO. So that then leads to reflection and what do I do to change this, thoughts. I am not one to make new year's resolutions as like most I never keep them. However, what about let's make some small changes and just try to absorb more, do more, BE more, before it's time to take that final dirt nap. First off, my health, and well bein...

This and that ramble plus a bit of a declaration

Wow has it been a busy summer! And as usual I am trying to keep my many irons in the fire hot. Today I am just hanging with my kids and getting some much neglected things done in my house. You know those dreaded things like laundry, dusting and organizing. It is not s'much fun but I look at it like this...at least I have things and a house to oranize, humble though it is, it is my sanctuary. Ssooookay. Got Doctor Who blaring in the background, my trusty dogs beside me, and the lovely chaos of my children ringing through the house. I have gotten my jewelry stuff back out ( what little I had left) and started working on that again and it brings me much solace. I am rewriting one of my books and am determined to find out where this character is going once and for all! I am getting ready to repot some of my beloved succulents and other plants in prep for fall as even though my herbs flopped this year my plants did amazing!!!! ...

RIP Kurt

I really am just stunned this is still something people mull and try to work out. I remember the day I heard that Kurt was dead. It was breaking news on just about every channel. I think I was watching Kurt Loder deliver the blow on M tv. I cried with the rest of his fans while I watched the story be rehashed on tv, all the wile listening to the one true grunge god croon "And I swear that I don't have a gun." on my then( still) favorite album, Nevermind. There is much, I could say about his tragic, yet chosen end, and addicts, and depression, and Courtney, but I won't. There is no point. The fact is a young, troubled , talented , man's life is no more. Let's stop playing conspiracy detective and digging up bones. He is gone. Let's just hope he is in a better place and be thankful he left us with a part of himself. http://dlisted.com/2014/04/30/kurt-cobain-called-courtney-love-a-bitch-with-zits-in-a-letter/

Natural or plastic?

"What in the hell are you thinking?!" Was my guy's reply when I told him I wanted to get a mommy make over. Now by mommy make over I don't mean new makeup , hair, and clothes. When I say mommy make over I mean tummy tuck, boob lift/augmentation and perhaps even a chemical peel. He was appalled that I would want to go under the knife to alter my body when it is just fine...according to him. He went on to say that it was very vain and ridiculous of me since I look so young for my age and I should not be thinking of being put under and carved on, and blah, blah, blah, and a bunch of other stuff that in no way convince my brain that what he is saying is true. ( yeah Im off that way) OK, so maybe he is partially right but in all fairness isn't he also partially wrong? Let's dissect shall we? (It is my body, and my self esteem and life and...oh yes sorry..back to dissecting) I do agree that while one can go too far with the plastic surgery that a ...

No soup for you!

Top O the mornin..errr afternoon to ya! The air is crisp and I am busy as usual. Busy though I am I just had to come and rant about something I read today on Facebook. It seems that in Utah a group of elementary students had their lunch trays snatched from their hands because their accounts were past due. Yes you heard me. They were served and then had the food taken and thrown in the trash! Now a spokesperson for the school said that they could not see who owed money and who didn't until they were served and that the children were given fruit and milk. Are you flipping kidding me?????? The parents needless to say were livid. As they should be! I mean this mom would have shown up with her bitch on! I know what you are thinking right now. You are thinking maybe this is one of those Facebook things that just gets passed around that isn't true or is over exaggerated. Well I am here to tell you it is not! I looked it up and this story is all over the p...

You gave what?!

The holidays are upon us! I mean they are practically here! We are just days from Christmas. Oh what excitement...kids, gifts, food, family! Everyone will eat drink and be merry! We will all have more than we need in the way of gifts and decadent fattening food....or will we? No, all of us will not have all we need. Many, many people are having a hard time this year and depend on donations of food and toys to get them through Christmas. Which brings me to something I have thought quite a lot about in the last few weeks as I ventured out from store to store and saw the many collection bins for food items and toys. At one particular store I had ample time to stand and study a toy bin for quite sometime while I waited on the rest of my party to get through the massive check out line. As I stood and studied I could see various games, stuffed animals, dolls, trucks, and even a few video games. BUT....I also saw things like the ...

It is here!!!!!

Happy Christmas everyone!!! Can you believe it? The time has just flown by and once again Santa is about to don our roof tops and zip down our chimneys with tons of holiday fun that mom and dad will spend the rest of the year paying off. I kid...we all know Santa doesn't take credit cards! I know that this has been a very busy time for me and my sadly neglected blogs show it. Between writing and trying to get some things finished and published andddddd tring to get presents bought for my clan it is just well it is exhausting. Exausting but enjoyable. I work very well under pressure. I just love the fact that I am getting some things accomplished! So my friends I hope you will hang with me on this little adventure and know that soon I will be back to posting regularly, or at least regular for me. ;) ;) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Unstoppable

Well I have survived yet another migraine! (insert holy harp music here) It is on day two and I am still feeling the after affects of this monster headache which pretty much debilitated me yesterday, and has me dragging ass today. I was up for probably a total of 2 hours yesterday and that was to take more meds and go to the bathroom. The minute I was done with said bathroom trips and knocking back another almost useless pill I would slink back into a very, very, dark and quiet room and try to get to sleep. It was at this point that I began to talk to myself like Gollum. Precious and I discussed how it would be to our relief to just remove my head. It would work wonders if we could do that. I even grabbed my phone from the bedside table and thought of hitting old Google for guillotine rentals. (261,000 results if you're curious) I did realize I would probably need my head attached in the coming days and would not want to be known round my hood...

Tis the season!

It is that time of year again! No, not Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas! I am talking the event that all word smiths, tale spinners and wanna bes covet about all other times of the year. NaNoWriMo, Nationl Novel Writing Month, that time when in the whole month of November participants make a commitment to reach 50 k words and write and entire novel by November's end, and in doing so you can proclaim to the world that you "won". This is a fabulous opportunity and can be very inspiring. It can also be maddening and frustrating if you focus too much energy on reaching your word count. My first time out I became very frustrated and very depressed that I was not up to par with my daily word count and by NaNo's closing day had only written 32 K words. I was so sad I could not shout about winning! That is until my other half pointed out that I was not seeing the fact that I had written over 30 THOUSAND WORDS IN A MONTH...

The time is now

Today I learned of the passing of one of my ildles, Tom Clancy. I was very saddened by this especially seeing his age. He was only 66 years old. Now I realize many people would say, 66! I am not one of those. I do not think 66 is that long in the tooth. However I digress. My ramblings today are not about age in and of itself. My post is more about time, the lack thereof and procrastination. How many times have you sat around and said, I wish it were Friday already, or, I can't wait for Christmas? I myself have said these things before. It's something we just don't think about, just things that everyone says, right? Yes, I suppose they are just those insignificant little things that all of us say now and againg. Little human responses to times in our lives when perhaps we wish for easier days, or happier circumstances. I know that my own mother used to tell me to never w...

Sky net is alive and controlling my printer

It's no secret around my all in one laser printer hates me. I believe this thing was built by sky net and much like the terminator it's mission is to destroy me. Yes, like a cyberdine systems T 101 and Sarah Connor the aio and I are not simpatico. I know what you are thinking. You are thinking, " Lady...get a newer one and your problems are solved!" I am here to tell you that this is not a bulky, loud easy to spot, machine. One you could easily avoid and hide from upon hearing it clunk around the corner. No, this is a fresh just months off the line model, that is sleek and very well camouflaged. He sits quietly waiting for me to interact...or should I say react to it. ( it's very taunting by the way) My latest battle with this cyborg was over the fact that it insisted I had no black ink left in my cartridge. This could not be further from the truth but said demon is insistent on using my very low colors to print with. Now after many attempts of reinstalling t...

Age, rules, and tattoos

I have long been a fan of tattoos. I have several and the ink gods willing I WILL have more. My tattoo journey is a different one that most. I entered into my first tattoo collaboration later than most of my friends and from what I have seen most of the ink bearers in the world. I was well into my adulthood when I first went under the needle. There were many factors in this. Factor number one Pregnancy. Some of you may know that I do have a lot of children. I have them in the double digits and am VERY PROUD to talk about it to whoever will feign an interest in them. Oh yeah...I'm one of those, but i digress. It is this multitude of children who kept my ink dreams at bay. You can't get a tattoo if you are pregnant and or breast feeding. Trust me I tried. ( I know bad mommy, please no judgies) I would wander in shops in different parts of the country over the years and gaze...

Bitches be stalking

Image
I know that a lot of people are reeling over this whole stalking the star thing and yes it is horrid and a little bit slasher movie scary that someone would go to such great lengths to find said actor/actress and track them down. What in Hades do they think will happen if they find them? That they'll become best friends, lovers? Do they think they'll laugh it off and go skipping hand in hahd through the meadow away in the distance, drinking sparkling water, eating strawberries and living happily ever after?????? UMMMMM NO. I will tell you what will happen. They'll skip on down to the poky with a restraining order slapped on them plus possibly a dozen other charges and perhaps nursing several wounds from having their ass kicked by said actor/actress, the police, body guards, spouse of actor/ actress. Who has time for that crap? I mean I barely have time to adore from yahoo's home page, twitter, or Facebook. Seriously...who h...
